Education, Training and Management Principles Are The Key to Establish Credit Union

If we reviewed the article written by Dr. F.Y. Khosmas, with entitle “ Credit Union was designed to increase Member quality” has been published in UKM Magazine ed.106 year X, Mei 2015, implied to increase the member quality. Increasing member quality needs educated people especially to manage Credit Union, whether in Board of Directors level, board of Supervisors level, Managements, Staffs, Core Groups, SPO, or member who involved in credit union. Education is needed to get better quality in order to give enlightenment to people through education, training and also management principles in improving the quality of Human Resources

Qualified education is always relevant to the progress and development of Credit union. The progression of Credit Union could be seen by using the technology. Qualified education is always in accordance with innovation and collaboration. Proper training could give implication to member/staff that to increase the competency and professionalism member/staffs. Training program for members and staffs have been scheduled in the strategic planning of the Credit Union. Beside the credit union’s staffs, members are expected to contribute actively in some training conducted by the credit union.

Another important thing beside education and training, modern Credit Union need a good leader in managing Credit Union. Management should have a commitment to do credit union goals, collaborated with directors and could give the answer to the member. As the professional management, they are expected to lead Credit union intelligently so that it should have the knowledge about management principles.
Peter Davis writes 7 principles of Cooperative managements which can be applied in Cooperative. They are:

1. Pluralism. 
  Members will find it in their interest to recognize other stakeholder. Under managerialsm member are ignored or subsumed under customer.
2. Mutuality
  Because return on capital is not the primary criterion for membership in a cooperative, mutually between stakeholder will be easier to establish as one reward does not have to be achieved at the expensed of any other. 
3. Individual autonomy.
  The same as fot the general organization but in cooperative terms it can also underline both the need for the organization itself to be defended from outside control and the autonomy of the individual member. 
4. Distributive justice
  The same with cooperatives but easier to carry through in their case due to their ownership structure.
5. Natural justice 
  Just the same, but the cooperative ownership structure and culture of accountability makes it easier to achieve.
6. People centeredness 
  The cooperative ownership stucture articulates this principle by being membership based.
7. The Multiple roles of work and labour.
  Cooperative exemplify by their combination of the social and the commercial. They mobilize the labour of small farmer and workers both as employees and as customers. Their principle of community helps to provide a holistic view of their customers, workers and suppliers. 

 

Member should also compare the management principles in general, they are:

1.  Pluralism
  Managing on behalf of all stakeholder interest. 
2. Mutuality
  Recognistion of need for shared benefit
3. Individual autonomy
  Respect for person and devolution responsibility .
4. Distributive justice.
  Non exploitatif sharing of resources
5. Natural justice
  The right to independent appeals procedures and the application of fair rules and processes.
6. People centeredness
  Recognizing that people whether employees and suppliers or customers are the subject not he object of business.
7. The Multiple roles of work and labour.
  Work influences social status, consumption patterns and the whole structure of relationship in society as a whole. This provide along with people centeredness the additional retionale for corporate social responsibility.

 

The knowledge of Education, training and management principles are expected to give significant advantages, especially to increase the competence of productivity, attitude, and work ethos.
